Schizidium rausi is a small size secretive isopod with beautiful yellow markings on its back. Itβs one of the few isopods in the genus Schizidium with such bright colors. π

Size: adults may reach a length of Β± 10 mm.
Activity: night; early morning.
Terrarium: I keep them a little wetter than the Spanish Porcellio isopods. Thus, only one corner moist at all times, with moss and pieces of tree bark or cork bark. I cover then with decaying leaves. The substrate needs to be at least 5 cm deep, because they dig burrows in it. Check out also our premium substrate and ultra premium substrate.
Temperature: 15 β 26Β°C. The temperature in the habitat of this species sometimes drops below zero.
Humidity: 45 β 50%; they like it a bit drier.
Diet: fruits, veggies, greens, fish-food, decaying leaves, white rotten wood, kinshi, molting of invertebrates and reptiles, lichen, green moss. And 2x times a week provide a source of protein.
