Schizidium rausi care

Size: adults may reach a length of ± 10 mm.
Activity: night; early morning.
Terrarium: I keep them a little wetter than the Spanish Porcellio isopods. Thus, only one corner moist at all times, with moss and pieces of rotting white wood. I cover then with decaying leaves. The substrate needs to be at least 5 cm deep, because they dig holes in it. Check out also our premium substrate.
Temperature: 15 – 26°C. The temperature in the habitat of this species sometimes drops below zero.
Humidity: 45 – 50%; they like it a bit drier.
Diet: fruits, veggies, greens, fish-food, decaying leaves, rotting white wood, kinshi, molting of invertebrates and reptiles, lichen, green moss. And 2x times a week provide a source of protein. Be sure to check out our Protein mix foods. Also don’t forget a calcium source (cuttlefish bone, limestone & oyster seashell, limestone rock) to keep them healthy.
Difficulty: moderate.
