Interested?

You want to offer a high quality substrate for all your invertebrates such as isopods, millipedes, roaches etc. Only the best, pure ingredients are used:

  • Flake soil
  • Organic potting soil
  • Decaying leaves from oak and beech trees
  • Sphagnum moss
  • Oyster seashell

This is pure stuff, directly from the invertebrates breeder. The quality of it you won’t find from a mass-scale production company. Limited quantities available!

Instructions of use

Pour the substrate into a suitable enclosure, providing an appropriate depth for the species you’re working with. Generally, the deeper the better, as it will hold humidity well and last much longer. It’s extremely important to never allow the substrate to ever dry out. Add more substrate when it gets low and completely replace when you begin to see more frass than the actual substrate. Be careful not to disturb anybody molting. Always remove any uneaten added food items within 24 hours to avoid attracting unwanted pests.

FAQ

Is this premium substrate good for all isopod species?

Yes. And not only for isopods, but for terrestrial snails, millipedes, scorpions and many other pets. For millipedes the Ultra Premium Substrate is even better.

Depth? How much substrate should I put?

It depends on the arthropod. Most isopods and roaches will be happy with a depth of 6 cm, while other isopod species that do love to dig, such as Porcellio dilatatus, will be happier with at least 10 cm. For millipedes, the depth of the substrate should be a little deeper than the adult size of the millipede.

Since this premium substrate contains flake soil, does it mean that it has to be used immediately?

No, you can use it whenever you want. Just pay attention and if you see it “sweating” open the bag to let air in.

Change? How often should I change the substrate?

It depends on the arthropod. In general it is good to change the substrate at least every 10 months and for some species might even be every 6 months. The acidity that is produced from the frass, might affect the whole colony and you might see many deaths in the colony all of the sudden.
