Porcellio ornatus ‘Yellow Chocolate’ is the chocolate-brown equivalent of the Porcellio ornatus ‘Yellow’ isopods. Beautiful large isopods, extremely active and they are constantly eating limestone granules & oyster seashell – they love it! – so be sure to offer them that as well.

Porcellio ornatus ‘Yellow Chocolate’ care
Size: adults may reach a total length of 25 mm. They have a disproportionately long body.
Activity: day; night; early morning.
Terrarium: keep only ⅕ moist with moss, pieces of rotting white wood and decaying leaves. Porcellio ornatus ‘Yellow Chocolate’ isopods require a much drier setup, good air flow and adequate ventilation.
Temperature: 18 – 28°C
Humidity: 45 – 55%; they can’t tolerate high humidity.
Diet: fruits, veggies, greens, fish-food, decaying leaves, rotting white wood, mushrooms, molting of invertebrates and reptiles. This large and secretive isopod requires protein as well, at least 2x each week. For alternative sources of protein be sure to check out our Protein mix foods. Also don’t forget a calcium source (cuttlefish bone, limestone & oyster seashell, limestone rock) to keep them healthy.
Difficulty: moderate to challenging.
Reproduction rate: prolific in an established colony; medium to large litters of mancae. Maturity comes after 3 months. Seasonal breeders.
Growth rate: fast.
