New research on this isopod species led to its new taxon name: Sinodillo sp. (ex: Merulanella sp.). Most isopods are a good cleanup crew for terraria, since they devour decomposed matter. Alternatively they can also serve as feeder animals for reptiles, tarantulas, mantis etc.
Sinodillo sp. ‘Red Head’ is a beautiful and rarely seen isopod, in the isopods genus Sinodillo, in the family Armadillidae and in the order Isopoda. They have a bluish/gray/brown back and cinnamon-red heads and skirt. They are active both day and night, but usually more during the night.

Size: adults reach a length of 10 – 12 mm.
Activity: day; night; early morning.
Terrarium: keep ½ moist with sphagnum moss, pieces of rotting white wood and also decaying leaves.
Temperature: 17 – 26°C
Humidity: 50 – 75%
Diet: fruits, veggies, greens, fish-food, decaying leaves, rotting white wood, molting of invertebrates and reptiles. And 2x times a week provide a source of protein.
