Cubaris sp. ‘Amber’ (also known as the Amber Ducky Isopod) is a standout terrestrial isopod prized for its striking honey-amber coloration and distinctive duck-faced appearance. Originating from the limestone-rich cave and karst environments of Thailand, this species brings a rare, vibrant aesthetic to any collection or bioactive display. Even though it is an old morph and one of the most beautiful Cubaris species, it is certainly underrated.

Size: adults may reach a length of 12 – 20 mm.
Activity: primarily nocturnal and semi-fossorial (burrowing), though they tend to be slightly more bold and surface-active than Cubaris sp. ‘Rubber Ducky’.
Terrarium: keep ⅓ to ½ moist with forest moss, pieces of tree bark or cork bark and also decaying leaves. Check out also our premium substrate and ultra premium substrate.
Substrate depth: 5 – 8 cm.
Temperature: 22 – 26°C
Humidity: 70 – 85%.
Diet: fruits, veggies, greens, fish-food, forest moss, lichen, gammarus shrimp, decaying leaves, white rotten wood, mushrooms, molting of invertebrates and reptiles. They will enjoy a slightly higher protein-based diet, at least 2x times a week. Be sure to check out our Cubaris protein boost.
