Isopoda World List: genus Cubaris
The Cubaris sp. ‘Opal’ is a breathtaking, highly sought-after isopod prized by collectors for its iridescent, gemstone-like sheen and striking pastel banding. Originating from limestone-rich environments in Thailand, this remarkable detritivore thrives when provided with a precise moisture gradient and a strictly calcium-rich diet, making it a highly rewarding focus for intermediate to advanced keepers. Unlike more skittish isopods, the ‘Opal’ is known for its bold, passive personality, allowing you to truly observe and appreciate their unique beauty once they settle into their environment.
