Isopoda World List: genus Cubaris

Consider adding one of the most beautiful Cubaris in your collection, the Cubaris sp. ‘Cappuccino’, a highly sought-after and visually stunning giant among the Thai Cubaris species. True to their name, these impressive, large-bodied isopods feature a gorgeous, wide, and robust build clad in a rich, espresso-brown base that beautifully contrasts with creamy, milk-white to light caramel bands and a distinctive face mask. Because they are among the larger, heavier-bodied representatives of the genus, adults make an incredible display animal that is surprisingly bold and docile compared to more skittish morphs. To thrive, these tropical titans require an environment with a distinct moisture gradient—featuring a heavily damp, humid side with plenty of moss and a slightly drier fallback zone—alongside deep substrate, ample calcium sources, white rotten wood, and a constant supply of leaf litter. While they are a slow-burning species that takes some time to establish and breed, their large brood sizes and magnificent adult presence make “Cappuccinos” an absolute crown jewel for intermediate and advanced invertebrate keepers looking for an exclusive, eye-catching centerpiece culture.
