Cubaris sp. ‘Bumblebee’ is one of the most striking and recognizable species in the terrestrial isopod hobby. Hailing from the limestone-rich karst landscapes and tropical forest floors of Southeast Asia, this standout Cubaris is celebrated for its bold, alternating bands of rich charcoal-black and vibrant, honey-yellow across its tergites.
Equipped with the signature Armadillidae ability to roll into a perfect, armored sphere when startled, the ‘Bumblebee’ pairs defensive charm with an inquisitive personality. Unlike many secretive cave-dwelling relatives that spend most of their time burrowed away, established colonies of ‘Bumblebee’ isopods are moderately bold surface foragers, frequently wandering across decaying bark, mosses, and leaf litter. With their rounded profile, distinct duck-billed face shape, and eye-catching coloration, they make a premier display animal and a crown jewel for any bioactive vivarium or dedicated isopod collection.

Activity: nighttime; their typical characteristic is that they can ran fast.

Temperature: 22 – 27°C
Humidity: 70 – 85%.
Diet: fruits, veggies, greens, fish-food, forest moss, lichen, gammarus shrimp, decaying leaves, white rotten wood, mushrooms, molting of invertebrates and reptiles.
