Scientific name: Armadillidium flavoscutatum

Basionym: —

Family: Armadillidiidae

Striking Appearance
The ‘Coffee Mate’ morph is a breathtaking visual mutation of the beloved Armadillidium flavoscutatum ‘Redhead’ isopod. Through careful selective breeding, this morph lacks the dark brown and black body pigmentation of its wild-type counterparts. Instead, it boasts an extremely pale, milky, and almost translucent creamy body—perfectly earning the name “Coffee Mate”. The true showstopper, however, is the high-contrast, vibrantly red-orange markings on the head that remain boldly visible against its light body. The result is a beautifully dalmatian isopod that stands out instantly in any enclosure.
Why You’ll Love Them:
- Unmatched Contrast: The milky-white body paired with a glowing red spots on the head makes them one of the most photogenic and visually distinct isopods available.
- Active & Engaging: Like the standard flavoscutatum, they are a relatively active and bold species that is highly enjoyable to observe as they explore their environment.
- A Collector’s Dream: Being a newly established and stable morph, keeping a colony of ‘Coffee Mate’ gives you the chance to work with some of the newest genetics in the exotic pet trade.
