Isopoda World List

Armadillidium badium ‘Albino’ is an exceptionally striking, rare captive isolation originating from the renowned Sicilian Armadillidium badium (Casteldaccia) lineage. While wild-type and established lines of this Mediterranean species are celebrated for their dark slate armor and sharp yellow – like a bumblebee – banding, this color morph suppresses dark melanin production. The result is a clean, porcelain-like appearance—ranging from milky ivory to translucent pearl—paired with pale, unpigmented eyes.

Despite their delicate appearance, these isopods share the robust, heavy-bodied build of the nominate form. They are curious, confident rollers that spend significant time active on the surface, clambering over leaf litter, bark, and enclosure walls rather than staying permanently buried. When disturbed, they execute a flawless, tight ball (conglobation), showcasing their glossy, seamless pale tergites.

Listed for sale are mixed size CB isopods; young or subadults, not mancae.
