Troglodillo sp. ‘Porcelain’, isopod information
Origin: Vietnam
Scientific name: Troglodillo sp.
Trade name: Porcelain
Synonyms (unaccepted): N/A
Family: Armadillidae
Common name: N/A
Troglodillo sp. ‘Porcelain’ is an uncommon isopod species that is larger and much broader than Troglodillo sp. ‘Sunset’. In fact, you should expect a genus change in the future, since this is one of the few isopod species that has three ventral lobes, and large ones! Most other isopod species that have been documented so far, have two ventral lobes instead. Except Triadillo spp. and Nesodillo spp. that also have three ventral lobes. The trade name “porcelain’ is due to its shiny, crystal, transparent appearance. It’s a species with variability in color however, from crystalline ocher to darker ocher color.
