Armadillidium badium ‘Buttercup Pied’ is a new morph we have been working on, the past months. It is showcasing vibrant and contrasting colors of yellow, creme and brown colors.
Patterning: The yellow and creme markings tend to be irregular, in a fusion of pied and often with calico elements. Adding to the unique appearance of each individual.
Variability: Individual buttercup pieds can vary significantly, with some displaying more yellow, others having a yellow “arrow”, while others have a more balanced combination of colors.
Armadillidium badium ‘Buttercup Pied’ are easy to care for isopods and fairly prolific.

Armadillidium badium ‘Buttercup Pied’, isopod care

Size: adults may reach a length of 18 mm
Activity: day; night; early morning
Terrarium: keep ⅓ moist with moss, pieces of white rotten wood and decaying leaves. Check out also our premium substrate and ultra premium substrate.
Temperature: 17 – 26°C
Humidity: 45 – 50%; they don’t like it too moist. And they prefer higher ventilation.
Diet: fruits, veggies, greens, fish-food, gammarus shrimp, forest moss, lichen, decaying leaves, white rotten wood, molting of invertebrates and reptiles. And 2x times a week provide a source of protein. Be sure to check out our Protein mix foods. Also don’t forget a calcium source (calcium triple boost, cuttlefish bone, limestone & oyster seashell, limestone rock) to keep them healthy.
