Porcellionides cingendus is a small (just 8mm long) isopod species that is distributed throughout the Western Europe, Spain, Portugal and also in the UK. It is an extremely variable species, with individuals ranging from ocher color with red spots, to grey to brown and all of them have an interesting pattern.

Size: adults may reach a length of 7 – 9 mm.
Activity: day; early morning; nighttime.
Terrarium: keep ⅔ moist with moss, pieces of rotting white wood and also decaying leaves. Check out also our premium substrate.
Temperature: 15 – 26°C
Humidity: 65 – 75%; they prefer it more moist than other European isopod species.
Diet: fruits, veggies, greens, fish-food, decaying leaves, rotting white wood, lichen, molting of invertebrates and reptiles. And 2x times a week provide a source of protein. Be sure to check out our Protein mix foods. Also don’t forget a calcium source (cuttlefish bone, limestone & oyster seashell, limestone rock) to keep them healthy.
Difficulty: easy to moderate.
Reproduction rate: fair; they produce normal size broods, but they are sensitive to drought.
Growth rate: normal.

FAQ
I haven’t seen them around. Are they WC?
The isopods for sale are offspring from our colony. All isopods in captivity came once from WC isopods indeed (they don’t fall from the sky 😁). But we only sell CB animals 🙂
