Porcellio werneri ‘Silverback’ is an oddball variety of the common Porcellio werneri isopod, with a white/transparent back, making this a very beautiful and unique isopod. Further, it has the same large size, and flat body as the common Porcellio werneri. Porcellio werneri ‘Silverback’ is an unusual looking isopod variety with an oval shape, a very broad and flat body and it is also a large species, measuring up to 2 cm long. It takes 8 to 12 months to establish a stable breeding colony. But once the colony is established it proves to be a non demanding species to keep and breed, and it’s also moderately prolific.
Truly a magnificent isopod species, it stays constantly high in my top 10 list of most favorite isopods.
