Porcellio scaber ‘Piebald’ is a color morph of the common Porcellio scaber isopod with a recessive gene. That means that there is much diversity with isopods being almost black to almost white. A few isopods that might appear black, they surely carry the piebald genes and will pass it on, to their offspring.

Size: adults may reach a length of 18 mm.
Activity: day; early morning; nighttime.
Terrarium: keep ⅓ moist with moss, pieces of rotting white wood covering with decaying leaves. Check out also our premium substrate.
Temperature: 17 – 26°C
Humidity: 50 – 60%
Diet: fruits, veggies, greens, fish-food, decaying leaves. Rotting white wood should be plenty, molting of invertebrates and reptiles. They will enjoy a slightly higher protein-based diet, at least 2x times a week. Be sure to check out our Protein mix foods. They prefer less fresh leaves. Also don’t forget a calcium source (cuttlefish bone, limestone & oyster seashell, limestone rock) to keep them healthy.
