Porcellio sp. ‘Alanya’ is yet another beautiful isopod from the area of Alanya, Turkey. Its colors range from high yellow (as seen in the image above) to much darker brown/black with yellow dots. It is considered an easy to breed isopod. Just like the other isopod from Turkey with a similar trade name (Porcellio sp. ‘Antalya’), this is a small to medium size isopod as well.

Size: adults may reach a length of 15 mm.
Activity: night; early morning.
Terrarium: keep only a large corner moist with forest moss, pieces of rotting white wood and also decaying leaves. Porcellio sp. ‘Alanya’ isopods require a drier setup, but not extremely dry, like the spanish porcellios. Good air flow and adequate ventilation are also essential for this porcellio species. Temperature: 18 – 30°C
Humidity: 50 – 65%; slightly more moist than the spanish porcellios.
Diet: fruits, veggies, greens, fish-food, forest moss, lichen, decaying leaves, rotting white wood, molting of invertebrates and reptiles. And 2x times a week provide a source of protein. Difficulty: moderate to easy.
Reproduction rate: moderate, with medium size litters of mancae. Maturity comes after 3 months. Seasonal breeders (spring, summer, autumn).
Growth rate: normal.
