Cubaris sp. ‘Giant Nguyen’ is currently the largest Cubaris isopod species in captivity in Europe, with adult individuals reaching a maximum length of 28 mm. Cubaris sp. ‘Giant Nguyen’ was named after the person who discovered them in caves in Southern Vietnam. Some also call it Cubaris sp. ‘Crabby’. It is not an extremely demanding species, it just needs some months to establish a stable breeding colony. They have an orange-golden color and a quite broad body.

Size: adults may reach a length of 28 mm.
Activity: mostly night active.
Terrarium: keep ⅓ moist with forest moss, pieces of tree bark or cork bark and also decaying leaves. Check out also our premium substrate and ultra premium substrate.
Temperature: 18 – 28°C
Humidity: 55 – 70%
Diet: fruits, veggies, greens, fish-food, forest moss, lichen, gammarus shrimp, bat guano, decaying leaves, white rotten wood, molting of invertebrates and reptiles. They will enjoy a slightly higher protein-based diet, at least 2x times a week. Be sure to check out our Protein mix foods. Also don’t forget a calcium source (calcium triple boost, cuttlefish bone, limestone & oyster seashell, limestone rock) to keep them healthy.
