Cubaris murina ‘Anemone’ is a cute small isopod species, and a mutation of the common Cubaris murina isopod. It was originally collected in Florida, USA. It has a dark orange color with random dark splotches. However, its color is quite variable, it ranges from almost solid orange to almost solid black! Cubaris murina ‘Anemone’ are hardy and adaptable isopods, but rather shy. With large numbers however they tend to be active both day and night.

Size: adults may reach a length of 22 mm.
Activity: anytime; mostly night active.
Terrarium: keep ⅓ moist with forest moss, pieces of tree bark or cork bark and also decaying leaves. Check out also our premium substrate and ultra premium substrate.
Temperature: 22 – 28°C.
Humidity: 60 – 80%.
Diet: fruits, veggies, greens, fish-food, forest moss, lichen, gammarus shrimp, decaying leaves, white rotten wood, molting of invertebrates and reptiles. They will enjoy a slightly higher protein-based diet, at least 2x times a week. Be sure to check out our Protein mix foods. Also don’t forget a calcium source (calcium triple boost, cuttlefish bone, limestone & oyster seashell, limestone rock) to keep them healthy.
Difficulty: moderate to easy.
Reproduction rate: these are prolific and easy to keep isopods. Their only downside is that they grow slower than other isopods.
Growth rate: normal to slow.
