Common name: Peracca’s Pill Woodlouse.
Armadillidium peraccae is a bulky and broad isopod that somehow looks like the Porcellio isopods externally. Its bluish color and the tubercles remind me of the Hemilepistus reaumuri desert isopod. The species epithet “peraccae” is honoring the Italian herpetologist Mario Giacinto Peracca (1861-1923). Armadillidium peraccae is a social, active and non demanding isopod.

Size: adults may reach a length of 17 mm.
Activity: night; early morning.
Terrarium: keep ⅕ moist with moss, pieces of rotting white wood, and also decaying leaves. Armadillidium peraccae isopods are easy to keep and breed. Check out also our premium substrate.
Temperature: 15 – 28°C
Humidity: 45 – 55%; they can’t thrive in high humidity.
Diet: fruits, veggies, greens, fish-food, forest moss, lichen, decaying leaves, rotting white wood, molting of invertebrates and reptiles. And 3x times a week provide a source of protein.
