Common name: Clown Isopod.
Armadillidium klugii ‘Black’ is the standard A. klugii variety from Montenegro, with the other variety: Armadillidium klugii ‘Montenegro’ having the red skirt. As with the red skirt variety, these isopods have also a single row of yellow spots in the center of their spine and from front to back. Whilst, the two side rows are of white color. The adults are black, sometimes charcoal black, and the offspring are brown / charcoal black. The younger the offspring the lighter their color. The three rows of spots appear complete on adult isopods. As with the Armadillidium klugii ‘Montenegro’ with the red skirt, these are also easy to keep and breed and prolific isopods.

Size: adults may reach a length of 18 mm.
Activity: day; night; early morning.
Terrarium: keep ⅓ moist with moss, pieces of rotting white wood and also decaying leaves. Check out also our premium substrate and ultra premium substrate.
Temperature: 17 – 26°C
Humidity: 50 – 70%
Diet: fruits, veggies, greens, fish-food, decaying leaves, white rotten wood, molting of invertebrates and reptiles. And 2x times a week provide a source of protein. Be sure to check out our Protein mix foods. Also don’t forget a calcium source (calcium triple boost, cuttlefish bone, limestone & oyster seashell, limestone rock) to keep them healthy.
