Porcellio spatulatus ‘White’ is the whitish variety of the Porcellio spatulatus isopods. Selectively isolated from the white/beige individuals found in some locations. Some of the adults have a light blue stripe running across their body, from the front to the back, making them really unique isopods.
Porcellio spatulatus ‘White’, isopod care
Size: adults may reach a length of 20 mm.
Activity: day; night; early morning.
Terrarium: keep only ⅕ moist with moss, pieces of rotting white wood and also decaying leaves. Porcellio spatulatus ‘Coros’ isopods require a slightly drier setup, good air flow and adequate ventilation. Check out also our premium substrate.
Temperature: 18 – 30°C
Humidity: 45 – 55%
Diet: fruits, veggies, greens, fish-food, forest moss, lichen, decaying leaves, rotting white wood, mushrooms, molting of invertebrates and reptiles. And 2x times a week provide a source of protein. Be sure to check out our Protein mix foods. They prefer less fresh leaves. Also don’t forget a calcium source (cuttlefish bone, limestone & oyster seashell, limestone rock) to keep them healthy.
Difficulty: moderate to easy.
Reproduction rate: moderately prolific when established. Though they are not as prolific as Porcellio spatulatus ‘Coros’ for example.
Growth rate: normal to fast.
