Porcellio monticola ‘Orange’, isopod care

Size: adults may reach a length of 12 – 14 mm.
Activity: night; early morning.
Terrarium: keep ⅓ moist with moss, pieces of rotting white wood and also decaying leaves. Sufficient air flow and adequate ventilation is crucial for this isopod species, because they prefer higher humidity. In nature it is found in moist forest rocky areas, so adding some limestone rocks would be a great choice for this species. Check out also our premium substrate.
Temperature: 17 – 28°C
Humidity: 50 – 75%; they prefer higher humidity, though they are drought tolerant for a short period of time.
Diet: fruits, veggies, greens, fish-food, forest moss, lichen, decaying leaves, rotting white wood, molting of invertebrates and reptiles. And 2x times a week provide a source of protein. Be sure to check out our Protein mix foods. They prefer less fresh leaves. Also don’t forget a calcium source (cuttlefish bone, limestone & oyster seashell, limestone rock) to keep them healthy.
Difficulty: easy.
Reproduction rate: prolific.
Growth rate: normal.
