Porcellio dilatatus is a bulky and broad isopod found in Western Europe that is easy to care for. They are hardy and adaptable isopods that – if given the chance – they love to dig into the soil.

Porcellio dilatatus, isopod care
Size: adults may reach a length of 20 mm.
Activity: night; early morning
Terrarium: keep ⅓ moist with moss, pieces of rotting white wood and also decaying leaves. Porcellio dilatatus isopods love to dig into the substrate, thus make sure your substrate is at least 5 – 10 cm deep. They also eat it. Check out our premium substrate.
Temperature: 15 – 26°C
Humidity: 50 – 70%; they are drought tolerant.
Diet: fruits, veggies, greens, fish-food, decaying leaves, rotting white wood, molting of invertebrates and reptiles. And 2x times a week provide a source of protein. Be sure to check out our protein mix foods. Also don’t forget a calcium source (cuttlefish bone, limestone & oyster seashell, limestone rock) to keep them healthy. They are not picky eaters and they have a voracious appetite.
