Oniscus asellus is a medium to large isopod that is easy to care for. They are hardy and adaptable but rather shy. With large numbers however they tend to be more active.

Size: adults may reach a length of 16 mm up to 20 mm (varies by locality).
Terrarium: keep ½ moist with moss and pieces of rotting white wood. Oniscus asellus isopods will burrow into the substrate if it’s deep, but that’s not a prerequisite.
Temperature: 15 – 25°C; they prefer it cooler.
Humidity: 60 – 75%; they are also drought tolerant.
Activity: night; early morning
Diet: fruits, veggies, greens, fish-food, decaying leaves, rotting white wood, forest moss, molting of invertebrates and reptiles. And 2x times a week provide a source of protein. Be sure to check out our Protein mix foods. They are not picky eaters; they have an average feeding response.
