Cubaris sp. ‘Tapir’ is a relatively new Cubaris variety (2020) and it’s a paradoxical color morph of Cubaris sp. ‘Panda King’.
Cubaris sp. ‘Tapir’, isopod care
Size: adults may reach a length of 22 mm.
Activity: anytime; mostly night active.
Terrarium: keep ½ moist with forest moss, pieces of tree bark or cork bark and also decaying leaves. Check out also our premium substrate and ultra premium substrate.
Temperature: 22 – 28°C
Humidity: 60 – 80%
Diet: fruits, veggies, greens, fish-food, forest moss, lichen, gammarus shrimp, decaying leaves, white rotten wood, molting of invertebrates and reptiles. They will enjoy a slightly higher protein-based diet, at least 2x times a week. Be sure to check out our Protein mix foods. Also don’t forget a calcium source (calcium triple boost, cuttlefish bone, limestone & oyster seashell, limestone rock) to keep them healthy.

What is their difference compared to Cubaris Panda King?
Cubaris sp. ‘Tapir’ have only a small portion of their face dark grey. Whilst Cubaris sp. ‘Panda King’ have only a band of white color on their body. Many of the young tapirs look like the panda kings, but as they age they resemble more the adult Cubaris sp. ‘Tapir’ isopods.
