Cubaris murina ‘Papaya’ is a cute small isopod species and an albino mutation originally isolated and cultured by smug bugs, USA. It has a pinkish body, the typical albino pink eyes and the upper part of their body, their back, is semi-transparent. It’s the only pink isopod being bred in captivity. They are hardy and adaptable but rather shy. With large numbers however they tend to be more active. These are prolific and easy to keep isopods. Their only downside is that they grow slowly.

Size: adults may reach a length of 12 – 16 mm.
Activity: mostly night active.
Terrarium: keep ⅓ moist with moss, pieces of rotting white wood and also decaying leaves. Check out also our premium substrate.
Temperature: 17 – 28°C
Humidity: 55 – 70%; they are adaptable.
Diet: fruits, veggies, greens, fish-food, decaying leaves, forest moss, lichen, rotting white wood, molting of invertebrates and reptiles. They will enjoy a slightly higher protein-based diet, at least 2x times a week. Be sure to check out our Protein mix foods. They prefer less fresh leaves. Also don’t forget a calcium source (cuttlefish bone, limestone & oyster seashell, limestone rock) to keep them healthy.
