Armadillidium vulgare ‘Gold’ is a beautiful albino isopod with a golden color and the typical – for albino – red eyes. Armadillidium vulgare ‘Gold’ isopods have a golden dark yellow with yellow markings, as adults. And the younger isopods have a bright yellow color with neon yellow markings. Beautiful colors and an easy isopod for beginners.
Armadillidium vulgare ‘Gold’, isopod care
Size: adults may reach a length of 18 mm.
Activity: day; early morning; nighttime.
Terrarium: keep ⅓ moist with moss, pieces of tree bark or cork bark and also decaying leaves. Check out also our premium substrate and ultra premium substrate.
Temperature: 15 – 26°C
Humidity: 55 – 65%; they are drought tolerant.
Diet: fruits, veggies, greens, fish-food, forest moss, decaying leaves, white rotten wood, molting of invertebrates and reptiles. And 2x times a week provide a source of protein. Be sure to check out our Protein mix foods. Also don’t forget a calcium source (calcium triple boost, cuttlefish bone, limestone & oyster seashell, limestone rock) to keep them healthy.
Difficulty: easy.
Reproduction rate: fair; they produce large broods, but the colonies tend to be male-heavy.
Growth rate: normal.
Lifespan: 2 to 3 years. Sexual maturity is reached after 4 to 10 months.
