Common name: Sandstone Pill Woodlouse.
Armadillidium scaberrimum believed to be the Armadillidium omblae in the past, but these are totally different isopods (resembling more the Cristarmadillidium muricatum and the Armadillidium bifidum isopods). Armadillidium scaberrimum – with its common name Sandstone Pill Woodlouse – is a robust and attractive isopod species. The back of the isopods is textured with spiny lumps and the color ranges from a pinkish-lilac to lilac-gray. And when they are freshly molted, the translucent center of their spine might reveal a bluish hue.

Size: adults may reach a length of 20 mm.
Activity: day; night; early morning.
Terrarium: keep ⅕ moist with moss, pieces of rotting white wood and also decaying leaves. Check out also our premium substrate.
Temperature: 17 – 26°C
Humidity: 50 – 65%
Diet: fruits, veggies, greens, fish-food, decaying leaves, rotting white wood, molting of invertebrates and reptiles. And 2x times a week provide a source of protein. Reproduction rate: fairly prolific with large numbers. They produce large broods, although infrequently.
