Armadillidium maculatum gen ‘Chocolate Yellow’, isopod information > care > photos > video

Armadillidium maculatum gen ‘Chocolate Yellow’ are the isopods I left out while working on my project: Armadillidium maculatum ‘Chocolate Yellow’. This is a morph that is not easy to isolate. After 12 months, and two phases (two isolations of the isopods carrying the specific phenotype), less than 10% are expressing this phenotype. Which translates to: at least 6 more months of waiting (and possibly one more year, or more). Since 2022 that I started on this project I haven’t seen any other isopod breeder working on this color morph as well. I have seen older photos of chocolate yellow A. maculatum isopods, but I didn’t see cultivation in progress, with established results. Which is understood, since, as I have already mentioned, this is not an easy to isolate morph, the genetics are tricky on these guys. But at the moment I can offer small groups of 5 and 10 isopods of those carrying the ‘Chocolate Yellow’ gene, for other isopod breeders to also try it out for themselves.

I will try to add in your order different colors of what’s left in the group, so that you can expect diversity of offspring in your breeding project.
